Me spazzing over Tintin and Haddock, Part 1: The Crab with the Golden Claws

I'm being away to Newcastle now, but this needed to be done.
After being able to get my hands on some English scans of most of the Tintin comics (don't worry, I own most of them irl, but they're all in German 8D), I decided to write some summarizing LJ entries, one for each comic.

Oh my, your entry brought so many memories back. Very nice review, if I might add (made me laughout loud a few times)! (I own the comics too, and re-read them once in a few years, but I haven't done so... since 2007 or 2008, I think.)

By the way, you are not the only one who sees the slash potential here. xD esda and I founded tintinslash years ago, but sadly, the community has been quite dead so far.

How can it be that there's a Tintin slash community that is inactive? o__o There's a big fat movie rolling up to the theatres, and there're two more being planned o__o Also Tintin/Haddock is pretty much the most canon cartoon slash couple I've ever seen >__>

I haven't seen Tintin in quite some time. I used to love watching the cartoons, but it kinda dropped off the radar. It's nice to have those memories come bac :D.

I just found this post, and I just have to comment on what an enjoyable read it was. :D
I've been re-reading various Tintin books lately... and they've all been ones in which Haddock appears too. As far as I can recall, I've liked the character, and that back when I'd never heard of slash yet. x3

And re-reading, I think I like him even more. For one, it occurred to me that in a way, while Tintin is more... heroic, I guess? Never afraid and always ready to do the Right Thing without a moment's hesitation... sometimes it seems Haddock is way more naive about things.

For instance, there's that scene in... Adventure at Red Sea, I think? Where they end up on a ship the bad guys abandoned, and find a bunch of people locked into the cargo space. If I recall right, Tintin assumes the bad guys intended to sell them as slaves, but Haddock doesn't believe something like that could happen in their time. Which, granted, is kind of bad naivety, but then when it turns out it's actually true... he's just so very offended and angry at the guy who ( ... )
