Toy Soldiers: Attention To Detail (PG)

Jun 26, 2006 21:30

Summary: They don't cover this in the advice columns.
Notes: For prompt 14, "green." Started as a bit of fluff about domesticity being sexy, and...wound up as a bit of fluff. AU fluff at that.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL
*
It was the t-shirt. That green t-shirt of Billy's.

There was no logical reason why Billy wearing that shirt would be such a turn-on. It wasn't like Billy didn't have other clothes -- well, of course he had other clothes, but he even had a pair of leather pants, a Christmas gift from Snuffy two years ago. (Billy didn't so much as try them on. He'd opened the box, and held them up, and made a wisecrack about going out to ManRay's. Joey wasn't sure where they'd ended up. Bottom drawer of the dresser, maybe.) And he sure as hell had clothes that he wore when he wanted to make Joey sweat. (One particular pair of blue jeans, so old the cuffs were ragged, that fit so tightly Billy didn't bother with underwear. He wore them to Pride a few years back, and got so many propositions that Joey gave up being jealous and just started keeping count. It helped that Billy's usual reaction, when somebody was too persistent, was to kiss Joey to prove he wasn't interested. Plus, Billy wound up with so many beads from the parade floats that he had to hand most of them off to the family standing next to them on the parade route.)

Two days ago, Joey was upstairs working on a sketch that just wouldn't turn out the way it was in his head. He'd finally thrown down his pencil, got up, and walked over to the window so he could get a breath of fresh air, and there was Billy, down in the yard, wearing that green t-shirt, and raking leaves. The next door neighbor's dog came pelting over, and flung itself into the pile of leaves that Billy had just raked. Billy burst out laughing, and leaned down to pull it out again.

Joey forgot to breathe.

This morning, Billy came into the kitchen, pulling that green t-shirt over his head. Joey pinned him up against the counter and kissed him, hard. Billy kissed him back, then blinked at him. "Something about Indian summer?" he guessed.

Joey opened his mouth to tell him, then shut it again, because who ever heard of being turned on by an ordinary green t-shirt? "Nah," he said instead, and handed Billy his coffee.
