Dead on Yahoo!

My Yahoo account is screwed. Since friday morning I can't access my Yahoo mail or my Yahoo messenger. I constantly get an "Invalid Password" message.

I think I'm quite disgusted with Yahoo. For a while I've been having issues. My messenger goes totally bonkers when I used to login with my usual ID and pwd and used to behave just fine with another ( Read more... )

You have been phished, for sure. Go to the forgot password page and I hope you do remember the details you gave when you signed up.

This happened to me too just 2 weeks ago. The challenge question no longer works cause the answer seems to have been changed too.
It happened to a couple of other people I know as well.
Yahoo customer care refuses to help unless I give the right challenge answer (which obviously I couldn't cause it's not working anymore).
That's why I made a new account.

It is not possible to change your secret answer. I'm sure you can recover your old account if you remember all the details.

Most people get phished, and then blame Yahoo!'s customer care because they do not give the correct details.

Just make sure that you only give your yahoo password on a page that is served off login.yahoo.com and is https.

Well.. I sure dont remember who 'my childhood hero' was anyway! :-)

The problem is I made that account 6 years ago and never cared to change the secret question though I've changed the password number of times. And one problem with yahoo is that it has a limited choice of secret questions, which are if I may say, not really practical.

Anyway, thanks for the reponse. I'll keep trying to recollect the answer.

You entered your Y! login and password on some geocities page, didn't you?

Now that you mention it, YES! I got some links from some friends accounts that says, "Check this out" followed by a link to a geocities page. So thats what screwed me up?

Dude, I created my account like 6yrs back. I don't remember what details I gave at that time. :(

Looks like emailing customer support won't work unless I can tell them the details I had given them while creating my account (which was 6yrs back).

I just guess I HAVE to create a new account now. SHIT MANNNNN!

You are *very* lucky that your password wasn't changed. Change your password IMMEDIATELY, so that the phisher doesn't try using your account again!

Btw, don't enter your credentials on fake login pages. Read my comment about phishing earlier in this post.
