Tripod deleted my Final Fantasy VII web page

Okay, so about a decade ago, I uploaded a Final Fantasy VII web page to the Internet. Initially it was hosted on my local ISP's web space but one month I did over 2 gigs of traffic and got dinged about 200$ of extra fees on it, and consequently moved it to Tripod ( Read more... )

What was the URL? Check archive.org for it: They may have grabbed it on their webcrawls.

Yeah, I checked Archive.org, they have some of the page there, but a bunch of it is missing.

http://arcanatxm.tripod.com, IIRC. I replaced it for the time being with a placeholder page but I'll grab what I can from the archive.

Did you update the other two more recently? I've no idea what their policy is, but maybe they delete pages that haven't seen action in X amount of time. Though, since you can still upload content... that's just weird.

Nah, the other two have been even less frequently updated than the FFVII fan site. So it's odd that they'd take down that site. The only thing that I can think of is copyright violation, if someone objected to seeing screens of Advent Children on the page.

So far I haven't managed to find a complete archive of the site in my files!

Funny story, I came here after remembering Project XAT and reminiscing by going over the pages of it on Tripod. Tripod never deletes anything, I told myself, including something I made over a decade ago that I really wish was no longer out there.

I'm sorry your FFVII page got eaten. I, too, miss the web as it was before 2.0. Definitely felt more rugged, less homogenized. Regardless, if you ever do see this, my main purpose in writing was to thank you for the great memory, and the good time I had remembering Project XAT, :)
