What I do: I study the design and development of software (software engineering) in an academic environment, and I build software tools to help achieve this goal.

Oh yes, I'm still a Ph.D student.

What I know: I like using computers to try to make my life and the lives of others easier. I know web programming, networking, Internet-based servers, ( Read more... )

The real question is how long I'll stay for, I have about three posts a year for my Livejournal quota :)

YOU PLAYED WOW?! Damn, since 2006 too. That was the year I was heavily into it, raiding BWL/Ony/MC.

I knew you did too. I never hit endgame at 60 and played hardcore (15+ hours of scheduled raiding a week) at the end of Burning Crusade, doing BT farm runs, some Sunwell, and Naxx/Sarth3D/Malygos. I was removed from my guild during the summer for lack of attendance as I started skipping raids to do schoolwork.

should add that even as recently as two weeks ago I was still raiding Ulduar and ToC, I don't know if I've exactly quit but I have definitely cut back significantly as mentioned in the post.

Damn, ToC. That's still semi-hardcore. My account deactivated once Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue came out since I wanted to focus on those. Thinking about it though, I might reactivate my account. Last thing I did was 25 man Naxx (full tier 7.5) and crafted the motorcycle.

Btw. Gonna guess here. You're horde?

real life, which is, in my opinion, more interesting than fandom to just about nobody except myself.

I don't know, it depends on what you choose to write about. For a lot of people, writing about "real life" means whining about their ex and bitching about their parents, but for you it might mean what you're doing with music, or software, or disparaging lolcats-- which, by the way, is a terrible, terrible thing to do!

Granted I suck at tech, but the rest sounds pretty interesting.

Also, it looks like you have a life. The rest of us kind of suck.

My real life is pretty online-focused. But my circle of friends is pretty spread out. The Livejournal crew (most of whom I haven't talked to in years - yes, years) I met originally through fandom - I can trace the majority of people on my LJ list to either Xenogears or Suikoden.
