Summoning of Spirits

In some move of spontaneity, I've decided to join the Tales of Phantasia Remixing Project. I chose Martel's theme, which is a very simple polyphonic piece with a descending scale as a background and a gentle repeating chime as a lead (I believe it moves up in thirds in a minor key but my ear isn't that accurate ( Read more... )

Martel was the guardian of the Yggdrasil in the game. From what I remember, she was very much the peaceful sort; she asks the heroes to save the world's depleting mana, and basically provides knowledge and a little direction when you actually see her. She was an NPC, peaceful to the protagonists, but also was respected by the main antagonist in the game.

Does she show up for only a few minutes in ToP as well?

She doesn't have a lot of screen time, but she shows up on more than one occasion. No more than a few minutes overall, I guess. :P Hope that helps!

Yeah, they've been pretty dead. But it's as the person above says, about Martel. She's just about the same in ToS. Here's a ToS art of her:

OMG HAWT

Just kidding. :)

There isn't any ToP art of her? Not that there'd be much difference but apparently there's 1000 years separating the games.

Martel has a personality in ToS? @_@

She's the Mana Goddess, I mean the... nevermind. Yeah, she pretty much looks like she was ganked from the mana goddess. And you see just about as much of her. She pops up in the last 5 seconds of ToS in a context that makes no sense, and otherwise plays no role in the game. Lots of people talk about her, though. >_>

Well, her theme is all peaceful and rotates between consonant and dissonant... like there's two sides, almost.

And it repeats. And repeats. And repeats. Apparently the other remixers said that this theme would be rather difficult to do because it's so minimalistic. It's also the last song on the CD.

*I was suX0rreD* :)
