I netflix'd a bunch of Weeds, and just sent them back after watching the first 2 episodes. I wanted to like it; I liked what I knew of the premise (mom sells pot to support her family after her husband's death, no more). But when she says, in the second episode, "I'm selling pot to maintain my lifestyle!" and I realized that was true, the show

I could, or should have written your post!!! I had exactly the same reaction. At first I loved it, but the McMansion lifestyle really bothered me, like it is an expectation that we all deserve this. And the rest of the world?

Yes yes yes. We had Showtime when Weeds first came on and the promos made me really want to see it. Then those exact same things really hit me after a few episodes and I completely lost interest.

Ah, but if you keep watching you get to see her McMansion lifestyle slowly fall apart.
