Naomi hears a faint ambulance siren from somewhere as soon as she opens the window of her room, with the sun now slightly up but not quite so. Her continuous tossing and turning on her bed the entire night is so not ideal, not to mention so not her. (She always loves sleeping. Pre-flight jitters? Hope not.)
She goes downstairs to get herself a cup of milk, since she can still use some sleep, when she finds her mother ("Ugh mom, you scared me.") in the living room, watching the early morning news.
"Why are you up so early?" Miho inquires. "Your flight's not until later tonight, and you have all your things packed."
"Can't sleep," Naomi replies, rubbing her eyes as she goes back to the living room with a cup of milk on hand.
"Is this still about your father?"
She shakes her head feebly. "No, mom. I guess I'll just---"
"The hit-and-run victim's name is an Iragakko student, Kojima Haruka, who recently graduated from said school last March 29th. The victim was found dead ( ... )
