Rega Redux

Finally got my "new" Rega Planar 3 turntable up and running. It's not quite perfect yet but omigod. Had to order the tonearm from Hong Kong, and took it over to hunky bear Brian at The Analog Room for tweaking. By a GIGANTIC margin, the best sounding piece of gear I ever bought. Not coincidentally, also the most expensive, but oh well. Next I

Hmm.. How big is the difference if the needle reading the vynil has a diamond tip? Just curious because when I was a kid I was in Hong Kong and diamond tips were all the rage back then.

there are virtually zero non-diamond stylii now. Most of the debate now is on the shape of they stylus, elliptical vs line contact. Back in the day, all were conical, but that shape is all but obsolete now.
