Maki's One... :O !!! anonymous August 9 2008, 13:15:37 UTC
Hello,
Look, I'm the one you asked you for a Horikita Maki's Winamp's Skin in your last post (remember? "I would gladly make you a Maki skin ^^ I think I have some scans with her , so I'll get to work right away ^^ Thanks for taking interest in my work ^^" ) and I wanted to thank you. That's a really nice work, I really like it...!! It's beautiful.. :D
I was just wondering... How do you make all these skins ?? Is it that simple... Well... the thing is I'd like to make my own..
Anyway, thank you again and congratulations for your work !!

Sincerely,
Max

I'm happy you liked the Maki skin that you requested ^^
Basically skin making is pretty easy once you get into it. I use Photoshop CS2 for all my skins since it's my favourite graphics program. I do all the slices of the skin separately, by hand ^^

Yes I really like this skin... I'm using it all the time ^^
Would you mind explain me how you make all the slices of the skin...?
And about the making of the skin, do you make it with XML code or just with a software..? What software should I use...?
I'm sorry for all these questions...I just want to try to make skins as beautiful as yours :).... well...there's much work to do :|

Thank you very much for your answer.

Well. basically I first make the base for both the equalizer and the main window (a default image in Photoshop 275x232 px which is later sliced by me in the middle into two images of the size 117x275) then after finishing it I cut out all the slices needed for the rest (the volume, balance, buttons etc.) I don't use any program, except one software for the viscolor.txt cause I get easily bored with the RGB script. Making the playlist and video is easy - just copy the default image for winamp classic and overwrite the slices the way you want ^^). I don't know what else to tell you, to help, but if you have any forther question feel free to ask ^^

I actually use Photoshop (meaning I make them by hand). It gives the nicest effects on the skins and helps with creative thinking lol.

Just extract the .rar in your Winamp->Skins folder. Then open winamp and in the Menu->Skins choose the Skin name (in this case YamaPi_smile XD)
