A friend of mine is trying the beta with a vulcan character going by the name of T'urnip. He said it was ok and it sounded like an intresting idea, but then I am not an MMO player so I don't know.

Yeah it's alright, has a lot of potential to be a great game, but as mentioned it's only in Beta atm so there are a lot of creases to iron out whilst it's being finished.

Worth trying out though if there are any beta keys left.

Are you in control of a ship, or just a character? I know the games out very soon, but I cant say i've heard much about it. Im not good at ship control like in Eve, but im not sure how a character in starfleet would work, since Starfleet isn't exactly flexible in what its staff wears or carries as a weapon.

Actually it's a bit of both words. You get to pilot your own ship using the WSAD keys and some missions you do require beaming onto a planet or station to carry out something or other. It's quite easy enough to play, though there is quite a lot to take onboard at first such as knowing how the HUD operates etc but it's being constantly upgraded with the feedback testers are giving so I'm sure that once it's released it'll have something quite straight-forward :)

It's worth having a go though if you are a Trekkie and fancy playing a game in a Star Trek world.

I'm certainly gonna be buying it when it's released.
