I'm working on the con report today. I finally finished cleaning up my digital camera pics, so once the con report is written and uploaded, they'll go up with it. I'm just a little on these things. ^_^;;
BTW, I had a very amusing thing happen the other night. I was showing my Japanese friend Yu pics from Santa Cruz and San Fran, and I come to the picture of Joel and Ian holding your 'I brake for hot Yaoi action' plate holder. It took me about 5 minutes to explain to him what the heck it meant!! LOL. Was very funny when he finally got it.
I didn't know what category Come With Me belonged in, to be honest, except that I really felt as I walked out of that contest that there were only two vids (the damn Hellsing troll vid and Anneke's Amadeus vid) that could possibly compete with it for Best Technical. I seriously think Yaoi-Con needs a Character Profile category, even moreso than the Action category they already have. That's my feeling based off of the past three years of being in the AMV contest there and watching the entries. Given the nature of yaoi series (and series that have shounen-ai or are frequently slashed regardless), there just aren't that many action series that make good yaoi vids.
The video made me want to watch the X tv series. It was really good. It was a tough competition. And from what I hear, some things got voted into the strangest of categories.
Yaoi-Con is always a tough competition to me, which is why stardherd and I put the most effort into the vids we enter for Yaoi-Con every year.
I can believe vids were voted into strange categories. A lot of the vids fall into more than one category, like your Amadeus vid. Plus there's also the case of vids that have a lot of action but are really drama vids at the core of them - I recall we entered Mirages last year as an action vid at Yaoi-Con but as a drama vid at Katsucon, for example. I was glad that Wired Knight specified that you could vote for a video in more than one category for just that reason, because I know a couple of people who ended up doing that when they couldn't make up their minds.
Though we're going to have to come up with something pretty damned good next year if we want to continue our sweep of the Best Drama category... ^_^;;;
