I remember this well and would have to say you are exactly right in your reasoning as to why some people are standoffish with you.

I sadly admit I am one of those people. It is just still unnerving that someone who loves me and considers me a friend could drop me just like that without a thought and want to destroy me the next day...it's unnerving to say the least.

I'm afraid we all have a measure of uncertainty. Mine is trust.
