Twin Moons
They snuggled together on the observation deck, stargazing.
“How did you manage this?”
“Hmmm?” He nuzzled her neck.
His breath tickling her, she shivered. “This. How did you manage this?” She motioned around the room-- empty except for the two of them.
“I’m the commander. It’s my ship.”
She laughed and nestled deeper into his embrace. “You’re wearing my ring,” she teased, twisting the gold band around his finger.
“I am.”
“No one knows except Saul and Jack?”
“Nope. We’ll tell the kids in due time, Mrs. Adama.”
She hummed. “That has such a nice ring to it, don’t you think?”
“Yes.” He tightened his arms around her and looked out the windows. It was a magnificent view. “You know, they don’t twinkle up here.”
She stared at the unchanging pinpoints of light. “Well, of course not. Stellar scintillation requires a turbulent atmosphere. No churning atmosphere, no light refracted in different directions. That equals no apparent change in image, brightness or position, hence, no twinkle. I remember New Caprica. It’s all an illusion.” She snorted. “Isn’t that romantic.”
He chuckled. Slowly his hands slid down her body until they firmly cupped her ass. “No, but just look at these moons…”
