Book of Revelation
Those of us rounded up and brought to detention were earmarked as the living dead. It may have been Baltar’s decree, but he was simply a puppet. I wonder which Cylon really pulled the strings. Brother Cavil? D’Anna?
I could hear Saul’s screams as they tortured him. His suffering was my hell. Bill’s best friend and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Never in my life have I seen such fierce loyalty. Such conviction. Saul believes in Bill. I need to believe, too.
As long as the Cylons keep us in a constant state of fear, they have control.
How much longer can we hold out?
We can choose to move forward or to simply give up. The choices we make will define the rest of our days. I’m beginning to wonder what this resistance of ours will cost. More importantly, who…
She startled him.
With a snap, he slapped the book shut.
Caught.
He looked guilty.
“What are you doing?”
“Reading.”
She snorted. “I can see that. What are you reading?” She sat down on the couch beside him.
“Your journal.”
It was an un-coerced confession.
She hadn’t accused him of snooping. How could she? It was his library. There was no lock on the book he’d chosen. It wasn’t hidden. A thin black spine with no title, she never expected him to notice it on the shelf between The Histories of Herodotus and the Argonautica Orphica.
Then again, he didn’t always do what she expected.
“I could use some feedback on that.”
His silence was uncomfortable.
“Bill?”
“My XO is a Cylon.”
She took his hand. “It appears so, but it’s not what he is that matters. It’s who he is.”
His eyes found hers.
“Who is he, Bill?”
“He’s Saul Tigh. My best friend.”
