Have you ever heard of Pandora Radio? If you haven’t, here’s the lowdown: Pandora runs something called the Music Genome Project, akin to the Human Genome Project except, naturally, for music. They employ a bunch of musicologists, who analyze music in about 400 ways (harmony, rhythm, lyrics, vocals, etc., and come up with a musical fingerprint for ( Read more... )

Pandora radio sounds amazing, but, unfortunately, when I click on the link you provide, I get a message that begins: We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for most listeners located outside of the U.S. But thanks for the heads up; maybe we'll be able to access it in Canada in time :)

Lara's great *nods* 2 of my favourites from her are "Tout" and
"Immortelle," the latter of which I recommended as a Paire song on FF :)

I'm so surprised to hear that Emma's solo efforts are so good, probably because I know her mainly from The Spice Girls, so, well, you know... I'll have to check out her material :) I often wonder how many wonderful new artists and songs I'm missing out on, simply because I'll never get to hear them since the airwaves, internet, pop culture, music stores, etc. are clogged to capacity (or so it sometimes seems) with the most inane, space-wasting drivel. That's why it's so great when we all share the gems we happen to stumble across! :)

Arrghh! I definitely need the FanForum "furious" smiley right now. I'm so sorry you can't get to enjoy Pandora, Joanna. This brings my rant about the Music Labels much closer... I don't know how long Pandora has been unavailable over in CA, but I'd be willing to bet it's the result of this ^*&^(%&$ new royalty structure that the US Copyright Royalty board is trying to impose on Internet Radio. (I don't know if you have heard about it, but you can go to savenetradio.org if you're interested.)

Fortunately, there is the wonderful YouTube. Here's a nice sampling from Free Me and Life in Mono:

Free Me
Maybe
I'll Be There
Something So Beautiful
All I Need to Know
Life in Mono
Take Me to Another Town
All That You Will BeA couple are slideshow vids to post the song, some are the original videos. Oh, and "Something So Beautiful" and "All I Need to Know" you can find at the site I posted for my niece's wedding songs ( ... )

Smilies are quite addictive because they're so useful *lol* Oh, well :)

Pandora further explains:

We will be notifying listeners as licensing agreements are established in individual countries. If you would like to be notified by email when Pandora is available in your country, please enter your email address below. The pace of global licensing is hard to predict, but we have the ultimate goal of being able to offer our service everywhere. So, I think your theory about the regulation of the internet is most likely right. (Thanks for the link, btw ( ... )
