[Downloads/Recs/Art] Jiraishin Manga, FF7/Advent Children Fics
THERE. I'M DONE.
Have uploaded 17 volumes of Jiraishin for Em and Wai-wifey. There're 19 in all, but it got licensed by Mixx, the fucking retarded predecessor of TokyoPop before the last two could be scanlated (and WOE since the art in the last two are the MOST GORGEOUS). All 19 volumes are now up for download via SendSpace :D
I'm going to use cubicle_days' icon as incentive to those of you who have no idea just what you're missing out on. Hope you don't mind Res! '3'
I was actually pretty wary of picking up this series because the art in the first three-four volumes was rather old-school and nothing spectacular. However, thanks to cubicle_days who showed me pages from the later volumes (the art really picks up after volume 4), I relented and found myself swept away with each story and the utter SEX that is Iida Kyouya.
Now, some people may look at Jiraishin and recognize the art that of as "Ice Blade," a three volume series done by the fucktards of Mixx before it got discontinued. And when I say "fucktards," I mean absolute MORONS of the highest order in DRIVEL and STUPIDITY. Let's see the points of dumbassity, shall we?
1) They released the volumes out of order before dropping the entire thing. From what I could see on TokyoPop's site, They released SOMETHING with volume 6's cover first, used a blurb summarizing volume 6 for their second release and are just general whatthefuck?
2) The renames. OH GOD THE CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. THERE IS NO "Ky." The main character has a surname, thankyouverymuch and it's IIDA. HE'S CALLED IIDA KYOUYA GODDAMMIT. And his partner is NOT called "Mack," nor the chief "Nader." (I CRINGE at the mere sight of the name "Nader").
3) From what I can make out of the kanji, "Ice Blade" is nowhere NEAR the actual translation. "Lightning Quake" comes closer. Di Lei Zheng. ::curses her inability to input Chinese characters::
4) The synopsis and character profiles on the fucking website. Kyouya's in particular: He's the best homicide detective in Shinjuku. With a Dirty Harry attitude, and a James Bond panache, he's the coolest cop this side of Shaft.
... yes, whatthefuck, exactly.
There're probably more horrible things that have been done to Tsutomu Takahashi's baby and it's just such a pity that there's no way anybody's going to pick up the rest (unless they're doing it in such secrecy D:) Therefore in order to spread the love and awareness of this absolutely glorious series, here are the nineteen volumes of Jiraishin, scanlated by Omanga and Band of the Hawks.

1) kaasan ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY WHO HAS WATCHED ADVENT CHILDREN HAS TO KEEP UP TO DATE WITH THIS THING.

- Thorne Scratch: She writes the funniest and in-character noncrazy!Seph/Zack/Cloud stuff (I recommend starting off with Behind Closed Doors) and the most believable RenoCloud fics. If you go through her LJ too, you can see the utterly HILARIOUS FF7/AC aim convos EVAR and some Zack/Cloud drabbles of wunnerfulness. XD
- Moira's Many Moons. Cloud, Reno, Gen, AND SO IN-CHARACTER AND FUNNY IT HURTS SO GOOD. :O
- Knowing Shadows' Fusion. FOR ALL THINGS HOLY BEST EPIC IN THE WORKS FOR FF7 EVAR. SephCloud with lots of Zack and Cloud interaction and... I'm tired, making it really hard to describe, much less put into words, how much I truly love this fic. And it's not even finished yet. T3T
- asprosdrakos' Xehorista Tora. Messes with time, number of Zacks and Seph and ad;sflkwjerh good.
- TwigCollin's A Long, Hard Road. MASSIVE SephCloud EPIC. I remember slugging through it in three days and loving it. Now, I look back and can't quite agree with the characterization in the latter half of the fic, but given the amount of STUFF that happens in the story, it's still undeniably good and sheer awesome in its magnitude.
- chibirisuchan. Am currently revisiting her Mistletiptoe mini-series and.... She deserves SO MUCH LOVE for writing humrously in-character Cloud-Zack-Sephiroth.
- And a bunch from firedragon97 that I either haven't read in a long time or at all. '3' ::ducks::
