I read the story yesterday, but haven't had a chance to download and review the actual papers yet. Sounds promising.

If we're lucky it'll go to a European hospital and a government or charity sponsored lab/doctor will acquire the patent. Otherwise it'll just become another incredibly expensive treatment; in the US doctors/capitalist hospitals get the rights over any such 'cures', the patient on other hand gets nowt. Can't remember the legal case which set precedent for this.

EDIT: apologies for the this sounding a little rambling but when it comes to medicine my terminology falls over somewhat. Lets just say that if a cure is found it won't mean that millions of Africans are cured (unless they all win the lottery).
