That's exactly it. I see it all the time. I can understand being in a slump, but there are ways to get out of those slumps and really apply your self. I am the first person to say she is lazy but to be that unmotivated to make your situation in life better... well it's got to be a very low point to be at.
Everything's a choice in the end. Apart from being kidnapped or something to that effect, which isn't always accurate either. I still think about why someone would stay on the streets, but I try to think that if it's their true nature to live that way, then it's OK 'cuz it's OK to them. An old Buddhist friend pointed this out and I didn't believe it until I really gave it some thought.
Funny thing...as much as I hated Winnipeg, I have to say the panhandling in Ottawa is pretty bad over on Bank Street. Almost non-existent downtown around Parliament but that's only 'cuz of Harper's goon squad.
