to feel better?

I tried chocolate, my cat's belly, watching the L Word, watching both Andrew Blake AND Midori porn, and I chatted with my sister for a loooooong time :-)

to get the car running:

getting a late start on the day. I'm going to push start her over to AutoZone and get a battery tester, then when that tells me the battery's dead I'll buy a new battery with my mother's money and get some nice person to install it for me. Hopefully.

And maybe they'll have that book you were telling me about. If not, I'm going to find it online.

Also, thank you for the advice (got your e-mail). That is exactly what I need and that is being sympathetic, as far as I'm concerned.

This whole experience has made me realize how much my life has changed in the past few months. It is RARE that I'm put in a spot like this, with no one to call for a ride or even a jump start. I hate transitions.

You tried chocolate, your cat's belly, etc. Did it work? You didn't seem to answer that question. This is valuable knowledge for the future. :)

Might I suggest that you get some nice person to show you *how* to install it?
From all I can tell, you're competent, you just forget that sometimes. Empower yourself. You own a VW. You'll need to do this again. Remember what they say.... teach a man to build a fire and he's warm for a night. Set a man on fire, and he's warm for the rest of his life. er... or something like that. :)

Really, VWs are very forgiving, and excellent ways to learn the basics of how a car works. Plus, it can be fun. Remember, the 4 "strokes" of a 4 stroke engine are: "suck, squeeze, bang, and blow." If that's not an enticing reason to learn more, then I don't know what is. ;)

Glad the advice was what you needed. Always good to make sure.

The battery apparently had a faulty cell in it, and was 6 months past the warranty. Figures! Grrr...

So Lulu's running great again now that she has a new battery.

Chocolate, kitty belly, porn, etc. work great to cheer me up, but the problem this weekend was that it wasn't just an internal state that needed to be exorcised. It was the whole situation, and that wasn't changing so my mood was still crappy. It seeped into Monday and Tuesday also, but today is much MUCH better. I'm even smiling spontaneously again.

Stupid weekend.
*kicks weekend to the curb*
