Dinner?

There have been quite a few recent additions to the Cavite household, and we've all been so busy I'm not certain we've actually all met each other. Since Yachiru is going to be joining us as well, I thought we ought to make some introductions, and perhaps get to know each other over dinner.

Why am I listed under 'children,' anyway? Huh?

According to the sociological textbooks, the eldest caretakers in a legally constructed family are referred to as 'mother' and 'father' even if there is no biological connection between them and their adoptive or fostered children. Cloud and I are eldest, and the bar is Cloud's, so that would be two reasons for us to take the parents' roles.

And in their textual models, the rest of the family members are children, again regardless of biological connections.

...I'll just have to hope that Cloud doesn't object too strenuously to being assigned the mother's role. His workplace is the same as our living space, and he cooks much more edibly than I do though I swear I'm studying and cleans, and he's also the smaller and the gentler of us.

And as I mentioned, the biological connection isn't necessary in a legally constructed family rather than a genetically constructed one... so by most definitions he seems better suited to the maternal role. Really. I've thought this through. I'm not JUST defending my masculinity here.
