I'm a big fan of Vegas, but just to warn you: During the NCAA basketball tournament is just about the worst time to visit Vegas. (Unless your goal is to bet on the NCAA basketball tournament.) It's super crowded, which makes everything a lot more expensive, and also means the casinos raise their limits ( ... )

We're actually staying at a hotel Matt's stayed at before, so at least he knows where we are (we're on the south end of the strip, which is all we could afford last minute). Thanks for the advice about the NCAA thing - Matt's into it, but not enough to bet on it. I'll lay low and try to avoid it as much as possible...

There's a casino off the strip with $1 craps tables that Matt's been to before, so I'm thinking that'll be my only exposure to table games. I've decided I'm going to learn to play craps in the next four days. Not sure why, except that I suck at card games, and I love the song "Luck be a Lady", so I'm hoping the dice thing works out for me :)

The trick to learning craps is that you can (and should) ignore most of the bets and what's printed on the table.

If you only pay attention to the Pass bet, and laying odds behind the Pass bet, the game becomes a whole lot simpler. Or if you're feeling contrary, you can bet Don't Pass and odds behind that. So just look up how that works, and don't even bother trying to learn the rest of the bets, which are lousy anyway.

Thanks! I've been reading about it and that's totally my plan - although if I can figure out this "come line bet" thing I might venture into that territory.

Do you go to Vegas often?

here's a vote for a postcard! and a vote for katt jackson. mattrina sounds like a drag show stage name. :) sort of. not that i've been to one. or to vegas. have fun, though! and do dress up. i know nothing of the vegas of today's world (other than the flashing lights and half-naked women), but i love the vegas of the rat pack. :)
