I'm gonna try that cut and hide thing one more time. It probably won't work, but I will try. If not, I will have to travel to Atlanta so KrispyXF
can show me, in person, how to do it.
One benefit of flatting your back tire while out on a long wheelhopper hash
is that you have to dig through your seatpack and search for tubes and tools. Well, it turns out that I didn't have a mountain bike tube in my pack, only one that fits my road bike (smacks forehead), but I did find the key to the VW station wagon that's been missing since last April. And here I was about to go out and have a new key made. Silver linings to clouds and all that stuff. As it was, I had to push my bike about 3/4s of a mile through south suburban Atlanta until some of the other hashers, including Mr. Corvi, rode up with tubes aplenty. It was like a Nascar pit stop: they jumped off, opened pouches, had my back tire off my bike, a new tube installed, and inflated in about three minutes. And I was back on my bike following flour and searching for the beer at the end. One gripe: because of the flat I missed some pretty fun and technical stuff along the eagle trail. But hey, I saved money by finding the key and I was outside on a gorgeous day. The first day of no rain in quite some time. Today is lovely, too, but I'm inside at work.
Obviously not working too hard.
