Saturday, my car was towed by Riverside Towing. I parked for EIGHT MINUTES at Courtney's apartment complex, Oakbrook, to go in and pick up some friends. When I got back to my parking space, my car was gone. I went immediately to Riverside to pick it up, and then had to wait for 1-1/2 hours for the truck to finally arrive with it. Then, I was ( Read more... )

8 minutes!? i'll bet the towing people spy on the parking lot just waiting for someone to do exactly what you did...sorry about that, i know it was a pain in the ass for you, but hopefully you'll be able to do something about it!

oh and we need more info about this jason. pray tell!

Yeah, it's a racket. Sometimes they stake someone in the lots, waiting for someone to park. Then they check for a permit, and call the tow company to pick up the car if there isn't one. They also have a drop point at the Circle K, so they can use the small truck to grab the cars quickly, and then they dump them to a flatbed to go to the tow lot. That's why it took so long for my car to arrive at Riverside... they were waiting for a full load to bring in. It's a huge ripoff. LSU has an agreement with Guy's on campus that students will only be charged $35... yet the public service commission allows these off-campus operators to charge $159-$200 a pop, when my car NEVER even went into the gate, or had any security or storage. These guys need to be exposed publicly, cuz this is a much bigger ripoff than the textbook prices.

When my car was towed there, I called them(at about 11:45) to ask for directions, and the lady I talked to didn't know what she was talking about. I told her I was on highland and lee, and she told me to go down highland, turn left on state street and continue until i hit the river. uhh... state street definitely ends at wendys. so i told her that didn't make sense, and she gave me other directions... which were wrong, so after driving around aimlessly trying to find this place, i got there at about 12:05... and i was charged for two days, since my car had been there "overnight." It seems like they have some weird rip off for everyone. Louis got towed there this semester and brought his $175 in pennies, lol
