EXACTLY. That is one of the many reasons why it is so amusing that we have switched places for a bit. :)
You also now understand why I am annoyed that they have the nerve to whine and complain about the possibility of drought here too! Because that weather you are experiencing is what we usually get here---constantly. Now that they have gone for a few weeks without it it's like the end of the world!
It takes a few years of NO RAIN to get there! (And NO, I was not making up the water rationing thing. You just probably weren't even born yet.)
Likely not. Though when I was a kid in Santa Cruz, I recall we came pretty close to it once.
And yes, it does take years to get there. A few weeks without rain might be unusual for the area, but you'd have to be pretty darn shortsighted for it to affect anything. Though it was amusing how little the contractors who are currently building a new dining hall at Mudd thought about the possibility of rain, to the extent that they got months behind two separate times as a result of storms. It was supposed to be done by winter break; now they're hoping it'll be done by the end of the school year.

Sorry, I'm in southern California, where we just had about 2 weeks of constant downpouring. So that couldn't help but amuse me a bit.
