I was expecting those Bismuth-Garnet-Eyeball!Ruby butterflies to coalesce into Rose, but it was still a jolt--and I love the ambiguity there, fear of living up to her, fear of living down to her, guilt for "causing" her non-existence?
And apparently they didn't try to get the other Rubies, after all.
