Admitting defeat before you've even started

What with the whole not finishing the dissertation despite the deadlines and new jobs getting too much I've decided to cut my losses and face the fact that I can't take part in the Triathlon at the end of the month. The training is just too much to cope with at the moment and I just can't fit it all in. :(

Dont beat yourself up about it. This happens you you do extreme or endurance sports. You have to make a sacrifice somewhere just to compete, and sometimes thats not possible.

If the triathlon is not far from your home, go along and offer to help out. Tell them you'll do bike dismount and T1 and that way you'l be in the middle of the action and hopefully have some fun laughing at others. You also get to wear the race t-shirt then as volunteering is often as hard as racing, but there is no training.

My work has got in the way of me doing the first ever Austin 70.3 race, its only 12-miles from the house and I've done the bike course for the last 3-months, I just have not been able to get the run miles in. I could finish, but thats not it for me anymore, I want a decent time. Decision = NO race.
