Dare I admit it? "Legend of the Seeker" is my secret guilty pleasure show of the year. The show is completely ridiculous, but I look forward to a new episode showing up on Hulu every Monday probably more than I look forward to any of my other shows right now ( Read more... )

You know, I've been thinking of getting into "Legend of the Seeker" for some time now. I've yet to read any of the books it's based off of, but I have seen an occasional episode and have...lol, well been entertained AND NOT ASHAMED by this in the least, lmao (given my epic love for cheesy old school Doctor Who I think I should just stop being ashamed of anything ever, lmao!).

I absolutely adore Mr. Laurie as well, but I too am on the outs with House these days. Like you it's more out of boredom than any issue I have with the show itself.

Despite ridiculous plots, super-cheesy special effects, questionable acting, and giggle-inducing dialogue, I have to say I really like the show. It's like they said "Hell, let's be RIDICULOUS and not care!" You kinda have to admire their spirit! :)

I actually read the first book after getting hooked on the series, but I wouldn't really recommend it. It was pretty "blah." Characters speak in expository sentences and declare their feelings a lot. There's an awful lot of telling and not showing. I can handle that in the show, but 500 pages of it makes a deadly dull read.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one feeling a bit bored with House these days. It's not the show's fault - they've done some cool stuff this year - and lord knows I would pay good money to watch Hugh Laurie read the phone book, but I need vacation!! Especially from Foreman and Thirteen - SO BORING!! But I love Chase's haircut ;-)
