But Kate and Maureen talking about bletted medlars and crottled greeps is exactly the sort of experience that sears a clear image in my memory and I wasn't even there. It's probably because I only just learned about medlars when visiting Fishborne Roman Palace last year, and only about bletting tonight by looking it up thanks to your mention. Yet it's exactly the sort of thing that both Kate and Maureen would not just know, but would of course mention in conjunction with crottled greeps in casual conversation with each other.

Thanks, Geri. I never knew about bletting until Maureen mentioned it last year, but yes, of course Kate already knew it.

Thanks. It will be very strange to go to Portland and not be able to see her. We didn't have a meal with Kate and David every time we went to Portland, but pretty near.
