I'm sorry that your mother's lack of parenting, but so happy you had these wonderful grandparents (I assume?) to raise you. It is amazing what a difference it can make in a child's life to have that kind of love and support-- it can transform their future. This wonderful tribute to them, and your questions about how to carry forward all that they gave and made you, shows that just perfectly.

Hold onto those memories. That is one way of keeping him with you. I have been doing the same for my Grandma for 20-some years.
