I GOT THE FULBRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
I've been selected for the
Fulbright ETA (English Teaching Assistantship) in Turkey! It's slightly different from the traditional research Fulbright-- I'll be assistant-teaching English at a Turkish university (I won't know which until after everything's official, which means passing my mandatory health exam and requesting my visa). However, I'll have time-- and am encouraged-- to also conduct research, volunteer, and work on other projects (and oh god, do I ever have ideas and plans).
No, I don't currently speak Turkish (aside from basic politeness and emergency-directions type things), but I'm learning, will be devoting more time to learning now that I know I'm going (EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE), and there's a very small chance I'll also be awarded a language grant for additional study.
I don't know many of the other details-- which university I'll be at, exactly when I'll be there, or the precise nature of my funding-- until later. But for now:
AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!
