Re: i think its because they shouldnt be there in the first placekated85February 24 2007, 23:26:07 UTC
I agree that they shouldn't have gone in in the first place but they did and now they've created an almighty mess. Surely leaving before they've done everything possible to sort it out is wrong?
They are stupid people in Little Miss Sunshine though. That's what makes them great. The plant manager at work (big boss man) is just like the father. It's horrible

Exactly. Sending more troops certainly seems ridiculous. The strategy clearly isn't working so how having more people there so it can still not work is a good plan, I have no idea. But that doesn't mean they should come out. Why is it people seem to flock to extremes like that? And it pisses me off when organisations like StopTheWar seem determined to just say 'get out get out get out' without seeming to think about it. They've been going on about it so long they've stopped remembering what really matters - it's not about waging war now, it's about the importance of trying to promote peace. The war's started, it's there, it's shit but now we have to deal with it

Ooh, I'll save that link. I haven't had much time for watching tv now that I'm not being pissed off all the time (just some of the time. Not enough time for a whole season of a tv show.)
Yes to 1 & 2. I was discussing 2 with my Dad earlier because my mother called to ask if I'd be going on it (I was out thankfully).
Yes, going to war was idiotic but we can't change the past. We need to look at rectifying the situation as it is, rather than dwelling on what might have been.
Pretty much what I was saying, except with less swearing. I just think it's ridiculously cruel to go over and invade, illegally, create a fucking mess and then go "see ya!". We caused it, we should be fixing it.
I was also like 3 for a while this week. It was a pre-cursor to feeling horribly flu-like though, so be careful.

But some Iraqis don't feel like America has gone in to destroy their country. That's a very Western perspective. I think the danger is that the anti-war lobby do exactly what the pro-law lobby did originally and inflict our values and beliefs about how the world should be onto Iraqis without really considering what they would like doing. Not all people think a liberal Western-style democracy is the best way to run a country.
I want to make it really really clear I am not defending the Bush administration here - going into Iraq was foolish for many many reasons. I just worry about knee-jerk reactions that suggest everything that that administration does now must be equally the wrong choice.
Guess what? I woke up this morning feeling horribly bleuchy. My throat is hurting a lot and I'm all stuffy and weird feeling. I am now sipping Lemsip and feeling sorry for myself.
