Kagura was jolted out of her nap by a loud shrill beeping. It was an all-too-familiar sound, the smoke detector was beeping like crazy. She jumped out of her bed, not bothering to change out of her knee-length grey nightgown, and ran to the source of the noise. She arrived at the kitchen to see her roommate, Kouga, holding an already-deployed fire-extinguisher and glaring at a smoking microwave. The room reeked of the smell of smoke and a weird metallic smell. The smoke had cleared enough for the scene to be clear to Kagura.
“Kouga... what did you do in here?” Kagura looked around, amazed at what happened.
“Well, I was trying to make a dinner for Kagome, since she’s coming over later to study... Then when I put some of that leftover chicken from last night in the microwave, it just started sparking and it caught on fire.”
“Wait, the chicken from last night?” Kagura asked. She had no idea what about that chicken would have made the microwave catch on fire... then it hit her. “Did you take the tin foil off first?”
“No. Why would I bother?” Kouga said, rolling his eyes as if she was asking a dumb question. Kagura smacked him on the back of the head.
“Alright, I’m going to tell you the oh-so-many ways you are being a total moron right now,” she started, glaring at her roommate. “First of all, you put metal in a microwave. Secondly, you still believe that Kagome is going to leave the fleabag for you. Thirdly, you thought you could win her over with leftovers-“
“Alright, I get it, sheesh,” Kouga rolled his eyes again. The microwave emitted a spark, and both Kouga and Kagura jumped.
“And one more thing... you woke me up from my nap. Unless you have a death wish, never do that again!” When a knock came at the door, Kagura tried to smooth over her hair, which was still a tangled mess from being in bed. She walked to the door and opened it, and a number of firemen were standing outside.
“Ma’am, we were sent about an alarm-“
“Go see the idiot in the kitchen. He’ll be able to tell you what happened sir.” Kagura left the door open and went back into her room.
"Man, can’t a woman take a nap after a long day of classes anymore?!"
