thinking of the times
i too shut my eyes before
chancing to plunge below the water's
surface,
chlorine seeps into squints like
fire ants scuttle through
cracks in pavement.
unknowingly basking
in the glory of fleeting gasping
breaths,
long gone is the rubbery
weightlessness of water wings and
