Alex pulled up in his new, old Volvo and parked near the front. He could see his friends waiting for him.
"What the fuck?" Kara mumbled curiously.
"Oh my god, someone record this! Alex is arriving at school like a normal teenager," Rian gasped. Alex rolled his eyes as he approached the three. He had maybe arranged for a limo to bring him to school at the end of last semester because he'd been so excited about their band's first gig.
"Hey, guys," Alex called.
"It's a miracle," Jack continued. Alex shoved him playfully.
"Oh, fuck off," Alex laughed.
"Only if you help me," Jack breathed into his ear. Alex rolled his eyes & pushed Jack away again.
"No thanks, B Kat." He chuckled, wrapping his arm around Lisa's waist. "Who's got English first?"
"I do! I do!" Kara sing sang as Rian slid his arm around her shoulders.
"I'm such a fucking fifth wheel," Jack grumbled; he was only toying around, though. They ignored him.
"We have lunch together," Rian told Kara. Her smile brightened a bit. Christmas and New Years behind them, the group of friends mostly had new schedules, except for Lisa. She had the same classes as before and two more.
"We don't," Alex fake pouted, nudging Lisa's cheek with his nose.
"I know," she pouted.
Jack abandoned his fake sulking to announce excitedly, "We have lunch together."
"We always have lunch together," Alex points out.
"It's 'cause the lunch lady likes Jack," Kara teases. Jack's face turned to immediate disgust. Gerta is not a woman you want lusting after you. Ever.
"Not funny, Ker," Jack scowls. Rian and her laugh but Lisa & Alex look too wrapped up in each other to notice the joking. Jack notices but averts his eyes. He, sort of, has too.
"Alright, I'm going to English," Alex announces, untangling himself from Lisa as the first bell rings. "Come on, Kara; you're making me late," he jokes. She chuckles & pecks Rian's cheek before heading to the right with Alex.
"See you at lunch, Jack!" Alex shouts behind him. Jack grins & waves to acknowledge he heard the tall blond. Alex then blows a kiss to Lisa & Jack's face falls again. He back tracks because he has Finance, or something, alone while Rian & Lisa head the other way to Chemistry.

"Hey Jacko," Alex practically purrs as he sets his lunch tray beside Jack's and sits down too close to him. Jack doesn't reply; Gavin & Dean are sitting across from them but they're lost in a conversation about some new video game.
After a few minutes, Jack can't resist the jab he's been waiting to make all morning, "You & Lisa looked pretty damn cozy this morning." Alex let out his breath slowly and set down his pizza.
"Jack," Alex began slowly.
"I know," Jack cut him off irritably. He did know. Alex had to sell it. Lisa didn't know, and neither did Rian or Kara. No one knew, truth be told - except Jack & Alex, of course.
"I'm sorry," Jack said gruffly, because he really was. He always got bothered when Alex was a little cuddly with anyone else. You would be too, though - right?
Alex spoke his peace offering, "Want to come over?" His hand tilted to the side, touching Jack's so slightly no one else would notice. "After school?"
Jack just sort of melted right there. Damn Alex for being able to do that to him. He smiled wistfully & pressed the back of his hand against Alex's saying, "Do you really have to ask?" before pulling his hand back to eat.
Alex smiled, glad Jack wasn't really mad at him & resumed eating while listening to Gavin argue with Dean how Call of Duty 2 was so much better than Call of Duty 3.
"I think we both know Modern Warfare wins this, no doubt," Alex whispered to Jack. Jack chuckled and ducked his head slightly.
Lunch was over all too quickly but Jack was glad to find out he & Alex had both taken art this year, and it actually was a coincidence.
"I, uh- Jack, I gotta-" Alex hated having to do this. Jack blinked in confusion. "Lisa asked me to meet he-" Jack shook his head to stop Alex's words.
"I'll see you in class," he said curtly. Alex kept his face low as he walked away but Jack couldn't make himself felt guilty. Alex, on the other hand, was feeling plenty of guilt. He trudged down through the science hall, ignoring anyone who tried to talk to him on the way. He finally reached the history classroom.
"Lexy," Lisa grinned, wrapping her arms around his neck as usual.
"Hey, Lis," Alex mumbled, plastering on a fake smile.
"How was lunch?" Great, she was in a bubbly mood. She was always in this mood and, truthfully, Alex can hardly stand it anymore.
He shrugs nonchalantly, "Fine."
"You're in art now?"
Alex nods robotically, "Yep."
"Alright, you should go. You've only got a few minutes to get there," she pressed a quick kiss to his nose. "Have fun."
Alex made himself press his lips to hers, counting to six before pulling away, smiling sweetly and saying, "You too." before dashing back to Jack art class.
Jack ignored Alex, though not really because they weren't supposed to talk until the teacher was done with roll. They were painting today, Jack likes painting. He often finger paints just because it's easier than using a brush. Alex likes the brush; he hates getting his hands covered in colors. Today, he decides to finger paint with Jack because it will make Jack smile, at least a little bit.
"I'll be right back, guys," the teacher announced before leaving the room. It was a small class, mostly sophomores. Jack and Alex worked in sync getting paint, bowls of water, and tough paper. Any of their friends would of noticed the small smiles and perfect way of working together, but here all the sophomores were so oblivious to everything around them it didn't even matter.
"Hey, Jack," Alex stage whispered. Jack was focusing intently on his paper, but looked up with a smile anyway. Alex grinned devilishly & drew a line of paint down Jack's nose. Jack blinked twice before retaliating. He drew a line of green paint from Alex's temple to the corner of his mouth. Jack stuck his tongue out playfully & Alex giggled.
Not five minutes later, both boys were bouncing & ducking around their table as they each flung paint towards the other.
"Jack," Alex whined as paint slid down his shirt. Jack laughed and only laughed harder as Alex launched a bit of paint that flew right past his head.
Unfortunately that was when the teacher decided to return, and very nearly get hit by the glob of paint, "Gaskarth! Barakat!"
"Sorry!" both boys shouted immidiately, trying to hide their laughs.
"Go get cleaned up," she groaned. Alex grinned gratefully & tugged on Jack's wrist, pulling him all the way to the bathroom around the corner & down the hall.
"Jack," Alex sighed, rounding on the boy & leaning in, so they were pressed against the wall.
"Alex?" Jack wasn't hesitant, but curious because Alex never ever does anything at school. I mean, it's school.
"I'm sorry," Alex deadpanned. "I know I'm forever apologizing to you about all of this - the cheating, and the secrets, and all these stupid lies - but I am. I’m sorry."
"Alex, don't- You don't have to-" Jack sighed softly. "You don't need to apoligize to me."
"I know," Alex whispered sincerily, "But I feel like I should." Jack shook his head amusedly, his nose brushing Alex's.
He nudged Alex's nose with his own playfully, "Love you, Gaskarth."
"Love you too, Barakat," Alex smiled, leaning in to nip Jack's protruding bottom lip.
