Trapped

Horatio cannot be found. He is not in his room in the attic. She can find him no where in Cardiff. There are a great many similarities that he shares with Jack. Both are missing. Both told her why they were leaving and when they would be back. Both were not returning when they said they would. Jack has been gone for four months. Horatio has been ( Read more... )

Tentative footsteps down from the other attic bedroom herald Ears, who has, in the last four months, developed a tendancy to - not quite sneak, but move inobtrusively, just that little bit unsure of his welcome now that Jack is gone. Not that he thinks Kate would ask him to leave, not remotely, but he knows there are parts of her life she doesn't need him in, and doesn't know how to ask her if she needs comfort, or more space. Even his slowly returning memory can't tell him that; apparently, he never understood women at all. Particularly pregnant women ( ... )

There is no likelihood of Kate asking Ears to leave. She could never ask him to that even if she wanted it. The simple truth of the matter is she's grown to care for him. Oh, she doesn't love him in the same ways that she does Jack and Horatio but she does consider him a good friend.

Now? He's all that she has.

Kate is in the kitchen. She is very determined to keep everything business as usual. Still, she wonders if he knows about the PINpoints. Does he know that they are trapped?

She's just been the market. A lot of fresh vegetables and fruit have been bought. "Good morning, Ears." Kate is in the process of cleaning them when Ears joins her in the kitchen. "Did you sleep well?" She offers a small smile.

"No," he says honestly, but he says it with a smile. He'll happily help with the fruits; it's something to do. "Dreamed a lot, though. More memories. Would you like me to cut anything up?"

He moves around her carefully, as though she occupies more space than she does. Nothing blatant, just... caution.

"Me neither," Kate replies. Her back had hurt and every position that she had tried did not alleviate the pain. Then Ix had decided that she was going to practice some acrobatic feats. "Did you dream anything good?" She hopes that he did.

She does occupy more space than he does. Kate's stomach is quite large and there's still more time left. It's effecting everything about her. The way she moves. What she does. Everything. It's not easy either but what choice does she have but to just keep soldiering on? None.

"No. I'm just cleaning everything and putting it away. I'm almost done." Red, seedless grapes are placed in a small plastic colander and then rinsed off in the sink. "What would you like for breakfast?"
