The death of a parent is huge, N. I don't think you need to feel at all embarrassed that it's dominated your life this last few months.
May your father's memory be a blessing for you always.
I will read your entry about reengaging with Judaism with great interest whenever you have the leisure to write it.
It's something that feels like a priority for me as well, though I am far more like one of those crypto-Jews living in Central America than you are.
