So, I'm working at what is for the most part a dropout recovery/prevention program. Each student's first assignment is to write a short autobiography for me to read. It's amazing to me what they are willing to share, even if they seem shy otherwise

I can't even imagine. I volunteered with foster kids at a home for 3 months and I wish it could have been longer. In the back of my head, I think about fostering and/or adopting. These kids need a home, stability, support, and love. At least they have you as a teacher.

I have that in the back of my mind, too! I have a couple friends who foster and I see their updates on Facebook and it keeps poking that spot in the back of my mind.
