I liked this: "One click and you too can talk like Carl Chinn."

And hoorah, a picture of Alfie on the main page. That's what my best fwend Sian called that statue of a man sitting on the steps when we were about 15. We once left a surreal note underneath his piece of paper thing asking whoever found it to write something on the note, and put it back where they'd found it. We then checked this every time we went to town. For the first couple of visits, it was there, unaltered. Then one day, it had just disappeared...

when i first move there, i took a picture of peter sitting next to him in an inquisitive pose - much to his embarrassment due to all them teeny sk8er goths on the steps outside the library! i once took a picture of the fountain there to send back to my parents as a bit of a nice cultural thing of brum, all they noticed was the big load of rubbish in it!

i like the forums on the website - "the trollops of broad st"!

i miss living in birmingham! i might come up for the bullring opening next week, if i'm not moving that w/end - it will be sheer madness though so i might go the w/end after... fancy it?

That area's always been prime goth spotting territory, even when I was 12 and the waters of gothdem hadn't been muddied by the introduction of Marilyn Manson/Slipknot fans.

I like that fountain thingy, I always forget what it's there for though. I'm sure it's symbolic of something. Gawd knows what. It's probably written on it, just to shame me further...

Ooh, Looking At New Shops, that sounds like a plan! Though I didn't know it was opening next week, you're more in touch w/ this city than I am...

buggered if i know what the fountain is about but its quite pretty (when clean and actually spouting clear water - have you seen that fountain on the stratford road in front of some balti house which spouts red water!??)

i only knew because peter told me it opened on the first week of september.. i remembered that but forgot it was fathers day in australia on the same w/end and now i have to bugger about trying to find a fucking card. stupid commercial fucking holidays. anyway, i'll let you know if we're going or not because i'm looking at some flats tonight (sigh...) so may well be moving this w/end now.

But saying that somewhere is better than Coventry is like saying that a Food is better than Sprouts.

Even Cirencester is better than Coventry...

granted, coventry is probably the city i hate the most in all of england (though my boyfriend is half-coventrerian). it definitely beats redditch but then i wouldn't say its better than nottingham. ok, its nicer than... warwick.

Sprouts are great, silly.

Coventry has um um um naked ladies riding horses. Or did, once, a long time ago. That's about the only thing in its favour I can think of.

Ooh, no Sprouts are EVIL and must be punished.

Coventry was bombed to bits during the second world war. They shouldn't have rebuilt it.

Having said that, the re-built Cathedral is quite nice; there is quite a spectacular scuplture of a flock or birds, IIRC.
