everything is so half-hearted at the moment. but i will have new digs on the weekend, and a giant marketplace and sainsburys just down the road for the next three months so its not all bad. now that i've found a place to live, its rather left a hole in my workday, leaving me without having to check moveflat.com constantly for any updates. my new ( Read more... )

Here's what you do: do see Comet Gain and Vic Goddard, because I saw Comet Gain on Saturday and they were lovely, and made me feel like it was 1996 again (aherm), and cheered me up from my too-full-from-hastily-eaten-pasta-salad-and-slightly-too-drunk-from-hastily-drunk-Guinness unhappy state. They also had a really pretty man playing guitar. He had floppy dark hair, a tasteful goatee (no really), and was wearing a suit jacket w/ badges on the lapel over a stripy t-shirt. Very Indie Attractive. Then you can come to Lovestock on September 29th (though it's on a Monday, a really stupid day for it to be on je reckon) and see Zombina and the Skeletones there. And Vic Goddard again. And these bands:

THE LOVES (NATCH)
THE KEYS
HOMESCIENCE
THE LEGEND
SAMMO HUNG
THE CAVES

(pilfered from T'Loves messageboard)

Though some of them I've never heard of before.

And you don't have to do anything I say, of course, they are merely suggestions :-)

Comet Gain are still going...? Woh! I thought they split up ages ago. Jack Nance Hair is simply a marvellous song!

Just about, though in a different incarnation from the one I have records by (ie, the incarnation of which most jumped ship and became Velocette). Jack Nance Hair is great, yes. I was recently pointed towards a Frank Black song which referred to Jack Nance, but I can't remember the particulars of it. Grrr, and so on.

hmm but the loves are playing with comet gain and vic goddard as well!!! oh the confusion. its closer to where i will be living and i think some of my friends want to go too so that'll probably win.

why is lovestock on a monday? how annoying! i really enjoyed cardiff and would like to go again (when i have more money!) and to see the legend! and the keys - i wonder if its sammo hung the chubby martial arts star just faffing about onstage showing off some moves? i would so go to that!! but i predict that its just some band i've never heard of. bah.

I'm going to get myself a new job too. My current one is rub, and by a happy coincidence, they have started to advertise one of the few jobs I *really* want this week;

Film & Video Examiners...

Ah, that would be so great a job to have. It'd last for five years at the most, but even so...

that sounds fantastic - good luck with it!! it sounds really interesting, do you work in media/broadcasting already?

sadly, hardly any of my friends are happy with their jobs. a lot of them seem to want to do something 'creative' but don't know what. i have a few friends in design but its quite hard to get yr own vision off the ground by the sounds of it. now that i have a proper job to do with my degree and all, i've decided it's rub also. i'd like to work in a museum or library but i need to do a masters course first which is a lot of money so i just want to get as much money as possible now which predictably means moving backwards into admin... meh.

Lovestock is actually on a sunday, which is still pretty stupid if you ask me. Never mind! I'm going on saturday to see Vic and Comet Gain, so perhaps I'll see you there...I'll even see if I can get you on the guest list. Text me!
