Summary: The boys' thoughts about the postcards
Ennis had never told Jack that he had saved all of the postcards Jack had sent him over the years; that just wasn't Ennis' way. But he really treasured them and kept them all together, in order. He would just 'touch' all of them, because Jack had touched them. Ennis looked forward so much to being with Jack that sometimes it scared him. He needed him, wanted him...loved him, lived for him. He was so miserable without Jack.
Ennis wondered if Jack kept his postcards too. He liked to think he did; it's something so important because it was the only real communication between them except for a very few or unexpected phone calls. ‘Course it wasn't Ennis' way to say things like this to Jack out loud.
Jack kept all of Ennis’ postcards. He was looking forward so much to their next meet-up and this time he may tell Ennis he always kept the cards. Maybe Ennis would say he saved them too. Or maybe neither one would say anything. Knowing each other so well, things like this were hard to say even for Jack.
Needing Ennis, wanting him...loving him, lived for him. Jack was so miserable without Ennis. Why won't he go with him this time - finally?
Truth was that they never really needed to say anything, because both knew all too well of the love, need, and longing for each other. They just knew.
