For the sleep thing, have you tried taking melatonin? It's cheap at Trader Joe's. They're mint tasting chewables. Take one about 30-60 minutes before when you want to go to bed. Really mild effect, but I find it helpful sometimes.
We need to sit down with our calendars!! (and to go test-drive that spa you were talking about)

I'd like to add on: immediately upon feeling a cold sore think about emerging, liberally apply tea tree oil several times a day for the next 3 days.
