How can I belong to someone who is gone?

My stomach feels as if it is doing somersaults inside of me. I'm nauseated, lonely, and a little depressed... and reading Prozac Nation probably doesn't help very much. I'll get past this though, as I always do ( Read more... )

I'll do that. I'd actually really enjoy your company... when are you going to be in LA?

In LA now since, you know, I live here. *smiles* We'll have to make plans soon, like tonight if possible. I think I'm supposed to be in NY right now...but I'm not really sure. I'm also not sure if I'm even going to go. I'm so indecisive.

Well, I hate to be selfish, but no! Stay here with me. It'll be like old times - fun stuff.

That book is an amazing look at depression. I was disturbed and touched by her account of self mutilation at a tender age of 12. Her confession of her reasons for it hit home deeply. It wasn't that she wanted to die at that age but rather she wanted to know she could harm herself if the pain ever got so bad she needed to end her life. Chilling.

It was an amazing book, I've read it numerous times already and it still never ceases to get old. It's being turned into a movie, and I've looked up on it and it's gotten some pretty bad reviews - which makes sense, because I don't think you can actually capture the entire essence of the book, it's depth, meaning, detail, in a simple 2-hour film.

Also, Jason Biggs playing Rafe? I'm not too sure about that one. I wouldn't be able to get the label "Pie-fucker" out of my brain.

Well it's such a touchy subject and deeply emotional, that to convey it in a 2 hour film is difficult. I am sure Christina Ricci did an excellent job anyway. Jason Biggs on the other hand, I am iffy about. Granted I do think of the "pie-fucker" guy first but then again he was very charming next to Mena Suvari in Loser so I'll give him a chance.

I'm sure she did as well, because I think she's a brilliant actress - but from a majority of the reviews I read, they said that she wasn't convincing enough. I guess she did as well as she could, though, being as it's hard to relate to something that dramatic and not having been through it yourself... Jonathan Rhys-Meyers plays Noah, and for some reason, I think he should've been cast as Rafe, and Biggs as Noah. Something tells me that would make more sense, but hey - it'd be surprising if Jason pulls Rafe off. A pleasant surprise. It'll put all of that typecasting and stereotypes aside, and give him an opportunity to expand his choice of roles.

Despite the reviews I've read, I'm still planning to go see it and judge for myself. I can never really trust a great deal of these critics anyway. Maybe, if you're interested, you can come along with me when it comes out. It's a little far off, but it'd be nice to have a fellow fan of the book there to discuss it with.
