Oh man, Kat. I'm sorry. I know the feeling of trying to please your parents but trying to do things your way, too. But this is ridiculous! You have every right to quit if it's making you unhappy and eating up your income through gas expenses. You guys are done with an LDR (been there, done that, sucks completely), so why should you have to do it again? Hang in there, things will get better. ::hugs:: Hopefully, your mom will understand that your happiness is what's the most important, not pleasing her client.
