So. This old thing is still alive and kicking. Apparently the tyrannical overlordship of Faceslut has not quite signed Livejournal's death-blog

April 1: they're your new IRD financial year resolutions. Gym five days a week? That's extreme...
In about 17 hours it's opening night for my first ever lighting design. Difficult venue, therefore very basic layout and setup.
I saw A Brief History of Helen of Troy tonight. It was disturbing in a very subtle way, with Sainsbury-esque characters who were played straight, not as grotesque parodies. However it still had plenty of humour. Cast, lighting and sound were top notch, even if nobody has perfect American accents in NZ.
I remember reading somewhere that the eight glasses of water per day was a bit of a myth, and the number varies an incredible amount depending on activity, temperature, and other variables. However, drinking eight or more glasses isn't in any way bad, it just means that if it's too much for you on a given day then you'll just need to go to the toilet more often.
I didn't know you were doing honours (or if I did I'd forgotten), what are you taking it in?
Yes, probably. But I figure the more water I drink the less I'll want to sit and eat icecream/chocolates/cookies etc. And that would be a good thing :-P
I'm doing it in MEDEMS (Medieval and Early Modern European Studies) because yes, I am that much of a nerd.
Your comment on my journal partly inspired me to return here more regularly, in the knowledge that some worthies still do.
I agree - Faceslut is no comparison, and is significantly less interesting. So called "micro blogging" (where "micro" appears to refer to the amount of effort and thought involved) results in light intellectual nourishment - far less than actually _reading_ something that someone's taken the time to _structure_ into a coherent point.
Worry not about LJ descending into the minority - like all niches (film vs. "movies"; alternative vs. pop; haute cuisine vs. fast food) quality will be found in its exclusivity, and I have no desire to join the mob.
Good luck with your studies. Maybe see you in Auckland sometime?
