Rewrite done, and Charleston, A.T.

Love having a fellow writer next door. Thursday night I was awake but not awake enough to write so went over to windrose's and we talked writing for two hours. Then I came home and did the outline rewrite and sent it back to the story editor at 7:30 a.m.

Crashed, with the alarm set for 2pm. Had offered to take klwilliams to Tombstone, which she hadn't seen since she was five or six, but had wanted to back out since I was really wiped. But in talking with windrose, we realized we each had the urge to go back there. So Friday the alarm went off, I socialized with houseguests, then showered, and the three of us headed south east.

Tombstone makes my heart sing. It's kind of like coming home to a place I once knew and long as I can visit it, I don't need to still be there. So we walked the boardwalk, hit our favorite bookstore there and acquired more reference material for our own projects, then in my usual "that road looks interesting" fashion, we took a new route home.

By following roads I don't usually take, ended up on the old Charleston Road, which led to the now non-existent town of Charleston on the San Pedro River. A mile or so south of the town was one of the Clanton ranches (yes, those Clantons), and I can see why. Absolutely gorgeous and one of these days windrose and I are heading back down to hike through the brush along the river to the remains of the old adobe walls (mostly melted by rain) of the town of Charleston. (History geeks unite!) Then went partway through the edge of Sierra Vista, and then headed back home.

The sunset was awesome, as was the moonrise over the Dragoon Mountains. Damn, but I adore southern Arizona. And yes, have photos though I have to wait to use up the roll. And again yes, I want a digital camera to feed my impatience. :-)

P.S. That's Charleston, Arizona Territory
