hello again

My friend Tim asked, "how are your friends at home?" and I realized I didn't know and didn't even know who exactly to think of when I think of friends at home. I usually know how Steph Danelisky is because I read her livejournal, and Beej keeps me updates. I msn talked with Laura Tracey the other day and I have no clue how Jon Lesage is doing. Invest in some curry powder. Fresh vegetables are pretty cheap, and you can stir fry them with curry for a quick and tasty meal. See if you can find an Indian grocery store, they sell rice, curry, naan bread, and such things for very low prices. Chick peas are also great curried. (Say, with mushrooms and green onions) Get the canned kind, just make sure you rinse and drain them first.

If you have a wok, things like samosa can also be surprisingly cheap to make... and not a huge amount of work, really. I'll send you a recipe if you like.

I also find that random vegetables + canned tomatos + spaghetti noodles makes for a good vegetarian spaghetti meal.

Making samosas sounds like a lot of work, considering the amount of effort I usually put into a meal (tuna on a George Forman mini-grill with cheese thrown on top would be an example, if I'm tired I'll just eat some random ingredients like that trendy 'raw foods' diet except it's just laziness). I do have a frying pan though that is almost wok like in size. I suppose I cooould try using it for something other than bacon.

Stir-fry has quite a high ratio of Food Quality to Effort Required, that's why it's so great. Just chop some vegetables, chuck them in your big frying pan with some sort of seasoning, and you have a very decent meal which only takes a few minutes to cook. If you can multi-task enough to boil some rice at the same time, you can be almost as lazy as now, but have people think you're some sort of chef. Trust me, it's great. :D

I'm good except for a very sore neck and some website updating problems. And inability to eat cheaply of course....

At school we learnt than when people ask how you are they don't really care they are just acknowledging your existance. Do you think this is true?

I think I got a throat infection from eating at Strawberries. We'll soon see.

It's too close to the beginning of the conversation to convey any real meaning, usually. Fairly often I'll hear the following conversation:

"Hello."
"Fine, and you?"
