I've had plenty of "first" drafts that were originally countless revised drafts of a certain book. That type of writing can definitely be slow-go--especially if you're like me, wanting these "first" drafts to be PERFECT the first time around--but the more you persist, the easier it'll be to get through. Good luck!

I'm so with you on this! Right now, I'm in the middle of maybe my fifth (sixth?) revision/rewrite and I'm struggling. I get little teeny spurts of writing done along with long periods of staring at the screen and pulling on my hair. I'm pretty sure this will be a great story when I get through this rewrite (and revision and edits) but my brain is already saying, "Trunk it so we can move on to this other really cool idea!"

Slow and steady wins the race. Stay on course. The rabbit and the hare and all that jazz. Good luck--and just keep writing! :)

I know you love your wordcounts, but maybe instead of setting a word count goal for the day or a "finish ch 4 or X scene" goal, you could set a time goal? Like: I will write for 3 hours today! Lots of people suggested that to me for revising.
