What kind of detail do they give you? Is it just "you're more likely to get diabetes" or is it "you have a rare subtype of the HOD7 gene that makes you more likely to get diabetes" or is it "you have the V79M single point mutatation in the zinc finger domain of the HOD7 gene, which is thought to disrupt its binding to GRE-beta, making carriers more likely etc"?
I was holding out on this stuff, although it sounds interesting, because I was miffed they didn't give you your sequence and let you yourself look things up in scientific papers and learn from future discoveries... But $99 is pretty cheap.
It annoys -this- recent purchaser of two @ $300. Where did you hear about the sale? 23 certainly didn't bother to tell me about it. I was considering a couple of gift accounts, but now I clearly need to wait for the next sale. Or maybe try the competition.
I only knew about it because I saw a twitter post referencing it. I'm not sure how the news first got out... When I went looking to see how much coverage their sale was getting--via Google news-- I didn't see anything that looked like a press release or pre-announcement.
We'd just persuaded some family to buy kits at $300, so were also annoyed. Unfortunately 23&Me stopped the sale right at 5pm.
