Twilight

At twilight, when the world is blue,
I can't help but think of you.
And I don't know why
That's when I cry.
At twilight, when the world is blue.
(Lisa Nemzo - Twilight)

I suck at time. Anyone who has ever worked with me can tell you I have this habit I do several times a day. I remind myself, out loud, what day it is ( Read more... )

I've found that I genuinely forget my age. And it's so interesting how as I get older some time speeds up and some slows down.

I love the meditative quality of this writing!

I have to do the math every time. :)

I enjoyed this very much, and sympathize with you. At least you still have the memories, even if they aren't anchored to specific dates. I loved "temporal Tourette's" -- there's a lot that could be done with that for a story. Who knows, I may use it -- if I can remember.

My favorite restaurant closed a decade ago. I still get upset about it.
I sure understand this feeling! Or the products/fashions/foods you liked that disappeared, to be replace with something inferior. And you wonder how people could NOT love the thing you loved, and how could it still be gone?

Your perception of time sounds kind of like my issue with left and right. Which would be less of an issue if they didn't seem to have such persistence for other people. For me, they are random direction words that I have to really think about, or they just pop out as if they're randomly generated.

Like dates and events that are just back in the past somewhere. ;)

Yeah, I remember reminding myself that I write with my right and if you look at your left hand, your thumb and index finger make a letter "L."

Oh! This resonated with me so much because I can't really remember dates and I mostly associate it with events that happened around that time. Lovely take on the prompt.

This is amazing and actually sounds very much like "like music and cats and sunrise and campfires". Nice! I have the opposite issue...my memory is long and detailed and I'm one of those who can recall dates and what so-and-so was wearing and what their particular flavour was.

Thanks.

I also suck and names and dates. I've always said I have a problem with proper nouns. It's why I never introduce anyone. I warn my close friends to wander off if some random person comes up to talk to me in public.

I have to say, "Do you want to go to that restaurant by the college where they throw peanut shells on the floor?"

You don't want to be my partner on Trivial Pursuit. Or maybe you and I would be good partners for that! :)
