I sure understand this feeling! Or the products/fashions/foods you liked that disappeared, to be replace with something inferior. And you wonder how people could NOT love the thing you loved, and how could it still be gone?
Your perception of time sounds kind of like my issue with left and right. Which would be less of an issue if they didn't seem to have such persistence for other people. For me, they are random direction words that I have to really think about, or they just pop out as if they're randomly generated.
Like dates and events that are just back in the past somewhere. ;)

I also suck and names and dates. I've always said I have a problem with proper nouns. It's why I never introduce anyone. I warn my close friends to wander off if some random person comes up to talk to me in public.
I have to say, "Do you want to go to that restaurant by the college where they throw peanut shells on the floor?"
You don't want to be my partner on Trivial Pursuit. Or maybe you and I would be good partners for that! :)
